A Message From The President
The 44th RWGA golf season is soon approaching starting with the Spring Brunch Kickoff on March 25th.

Winter is fading, the snow is melting and spring is arriving shortly bringing green grass and flowers in bloom. My golf clubs are all ready starting to shake in their bag, knowing the abuse they will receive in the upcoming months!

The Board and its committees have been meeting over the last few months (braving the ice and snow), planning the 2008 upcoming activities and tournaments. I could not have pulled this together without them, their experience, hard work and professionalism is very much appreciated.

Ladies, start your engines and let’s get ready to play golf. It is time to clean your clubs, mark your golf balls, polish your shoes, tighten your spikes, sharpen your pencils and, of course, go shopping more equipment, clothes, golf balls, etc.

Remember to invite your friends, relatives and golfing acquaintances to come join us at the Brunch so we can show off the RWGA and possibly recruit new members.

See you at the Brunch.....Linda Malloy, President

If you know anyone interested in joining the club and playing golf bring her along! And, bring your money for the raffle! It should be lots of fun!!!

Club Shirts
The Board is looking into the possibility of having club shirts with a club logo on them available for sale again this year. The cost will be about $35. No decision has been made yet about color or style, but information will be available at the Brunch. One will be available for inspection as well as more information about purchase at the membership brunch.

TEAM News
Donna Edelen is the new Northern Scenic League captain for Riverdale this year. There are 5 teams now - Riverdale, Hyland Hills, West Woods, Sunset, and Broadlands. League captains will be meeting to determine the summer schedule. Both 18 and 9 hole players are welcome to play on this team. Sign up sheets will be posted on the club bulletin board or contact Donna at 303-452-6863. It is a lot of fun to play different courses and meet other golfers.

Northern League teams are setting their schedules and play information via the internet this year. Updated information will be shared at the Spring Brunch. Sign up sheets will be posted on the club bulletin board

Annual Club Reminders

Membership
For an application for membership in RWGA for 2008 please click here. Membership dues for 2008 will be $60.00. This will pay for prize money and GHIN fees.

Please fill in all the information for membership and send it along with your check for $60.00 total to Carrol Grant.

If you want to be an associate member with handicap only, you will need to fill out the form and send $35.00 to Carrol Grant.

Collecting Green Fees
We will continue to collect green fees 1 week in advance. This will be handled the same as it has been. If you have questions, members of the finance committees are listed on the front of the newsletter. Please contact one of them for clarification.

Paying Green Fees Reminders
Each club - 9 and 18 - will have a committee to collect the money each week. Beginning this year the 18 hole committee will be “alphabetical” members of the club. If you are next to be on the committee and you will not be available you will be responsible for getting someone to take your place. Please be sure to check when it will be your week. Green fees are collected each week after play. This means you will have to come into the clubhouse after you play to pay for the next week. You will usually do this anyhow to post scores and fill in the ringer book pages. If you cannot do this you will need to ask one of your playing partners or a friend to take care of this business for you.

Please be as helpful as you can for the members of the committees who will be collecting the green fees. Credit cards may be used, but they need to be pre-approved in the pro shop. You should have the correct amount of cash or a check reflecting the fees if you have an annual pass, or a punch card, or regular green fees. Carts will be rented in the pro shop as usual. If you want to play but have not paid in advance, call Phyllis Jensen to see if there is an opening in the pairings. If there is an opening, you can pay at the pro shop and fill the opening.

The policy regarding refunds or rollovers will be the same. There will be no rollovers or refunds. If you pay and you cancel you will lose your money. It is only fair to the golf course and each club that when you make a reservation to play golf you are obligated to keep it. When green fees are paid in advance, the golf course cannot be unhappy about having “no shows.” This policy makes the summer go smoothly for everyone.

2007 Punch Cards Available
Punch cards are available again this year. The card is for 10 rounds of golf (20 if you play 9 at a time) and it never expires so if you do not use it all this year you can use it again next year. The following is a breakdown of how the punch cards work.

Knolls: Everyone $140.00 - Plus $6.00 for each 18 played Monday through Thursday. Cards may not be used on week-ends. 9 Hole players will pay $4.50 for each 9.

Dunes: Residents $240.00; Non Residents $270.00 - Plus $6.00 for each 18 on Monday through Thursday and $8.00 for each 18 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. 9 hole players will pay $4.50 for each 9.

Senior carts are $10.00 per player.

Miscellaneous Information

Gift certificates for 2007 will be distributed at the Spring Brunch.

You will need to begin posting scores for handicap on March 16th. We will be playing “unorganized” golf in April. Sign up at the brunch if you want to get in on it.

There is some discussion regarding a series of group lessons. Thursday is a tentative evening. This could be a series of 4 covering different aspects of the game. If you might be interested in this let Phyllis Jensen know.

In case you are not aware----We have a 50/50 Kitty in the locker room by the score cards. You can buy chances for a 50/50 split of all the money in the can for that day. The other half goes to benefit whatever the club decides.
